Web Components, Rendered on the Server and/or Client?

I appreciate the effort Jared put into this exploration of a future where Web Components may be able to execute (and importantly render) on a web server and on a client.

Enhance vs. Lit vs. WebC…or, How to Server-Render a Web Component

I’m certainly not ready to back a winner at this point. The flavor of the WebC proposal is appealing to me as I’ve enjoyed using Astro and Svelte lately. The general approach each use is very similar. The momentum behind Web Components however continues to lag in favor of other options. The Web Component design/specification seems to have been so focused on client that it has held it back from becoming a common solution. Have you tried Web Components? Have you continued to use it?
