Web Bloat. It's a Bad Thing.

If you work as a software developer, there’s a reasonable chance you have modern hardware available for development and day-to-day usage. Web sites and apps generally are quick to load and operate I bet.

And, as such, you’re likely not noticing the impact many web sites (and web apps) have on various mobile devices (and laptops, desktops) for a huge segment of the world-wide population.

Side note: Dan’s post is completely devoid of modern styling and handling of even a moderately wide browser window (there’s no column width the content), so if you have a “reader” mode for your web browser, go ahead and turn it on right away (I can’t read lines that stretch the full width of one of my monitors for example).
